Sandbox works just fine with windows 8.1 update 1 x64, after latest 360TS update.

Minecraft sandboxed (Win8.1) , Sandbox is work
It doesn't work for me and I redl'd it.

My version is 4.0.0.2048 and while checking for update it says it's the latest version

So i guess, automatic update acting like childish? damn this sucks now

Hi Karol, the newest version of IS is not yet available for automatic update at the moment, we want to ensure that the new version is stable before we release it worldwide. We release a separate install package early to make sure the new program is operating without issue first. Once we determined that it is stable, you'll be able to update it automatically without downloading the entire thing.
