OK, I wanted to check out ESET Password Manager, see how it compares to Bitwarden. So I activate it in my ESET Home account, and install the extension in Brave.

And then I clicked on the extension button, which brings up a screen that needs my e-mail and password. But all I get is that my e-mail address is already in use. (My ESET Home account.) From what I could find out so far, I should be using the same login as for my ESET Home account. Or do I seriously need to use a different e-mail address?

No, you don't need a different email address. You should use the same login credentials as your ESET Home account. If you're still having trouble, try resetting your password or contacting ESET support for further assistance.

OK, thank you.

It's built on the foundation of SaferPass, same as Bitdefender's Password Manager (not the new BD SecurePass). It isn't "bad" and hopefully better than BD where for a lot of people, it wouldn't stay logged in (on home PC's where that can be okay) especially on Chrome even when the remember me option was checked. I did see a thread last week on the ESET forum with the same issue.

IMO, it may be a step down from Bitwarden.

Hmm, the article is almost six years old, but still an interesting read nonetheless. I will wait and see when someone on ESET Support answers my question I mentioned in my OP here. I will take a look at the Password manager without importing my Bitwarden vault, and if I am not satisfied then I will keep using Bitwarden.

Perhaps just a warning not to devote too much energy to solving the problem when the feature will soon be discontinued anyway.
ESET Password Manager is discontinuing | ESET End of Life

Yes, Password manager had already disappeared from ESET main GUI a short while ago. But already quite quickly after I made this thread, I stopped trying to use it. I use Vivaldi's build in password manager, which are encoded and require Windows Hello pin code. :)
