So true - supporting 9 and 9 is idiotic. People cry about not wanting to upgrade for the stupidest reasons.

That article stated correct since older version must be discontinued and it will never be a least of zero day attacks but more than the latest one with security enhancement.

Time and money is wasted just to make sure even the older version is protected against zero day.
