Stop children using VPN's

They were told the Pron block wouldn't work now 'dame' wants age verification on VPN's - That will also mean most AV's too??

I feel it shows a total lack of understanding of how the net works - Where I ask as a father of four children & ten grandchildren where does parental responsibility enter into the subject?

These legal and technical battles are a poor substitute for focusing on parental responsibility and educating children on how to navigate the online world safely and responsibly. They also create a significant and unnecessary risk of identity theft by requiring users to upload their personal credentials, which could be exploited by hackers. This flawed approach places the burden of protection on a system that is easily circumvented, while simultaneously creating a new and dangerous vulnerability for everyone's private information.

UK has opened Pandora’s box with its initiatives to control the internet. Now most autocracies around the world have a perfect example of censorship right in the heart of the West. Raising children should be the responsibility of parents, not the state. And overall, it’s rather absurd to watch how, during cultural wars, the state, instead of protecting its own identity, intrudes into the family where people have somehow managed just fine without its help for centuries.

It does show a total lack of understanding of the dinosaurs in parliament who made the original plans in the first place who are actually just mastering the art of email, plus VPN's are a available on most antivirus products anyway & some browsers, age restrictions on those too? - I agree totally about protecting vulnerable children but this half hatched plan is already in tatters shortly after inception :poop:

The cherry on the top is different sites support different verification methods, so you don't even upload the data to the one provider... You need to create 5-6 different apps and accounts. Yoti here, something else there. They should have at least invested in one single verification system.

This 💯. It's just another excuse for poor parenting and parents setting poor boundaries. It's also a indictment on out education systems that should be teaching kids responsible browsing.
