AhnLab is a little-known South Korean publisher.
Formerly reserved for the enterprise market, AhnLab has now developed a home version of its flagship antivirus, v3 .
The aim of this version is to offer free protection with simplicity.
2 years ago, during my last test, AhnLab was very average, and it's high time to find out if it has evolved.
Interface :
The product interface is very clear and user-friendly.
AhnLab offers a few settings, but nothing fussy, especially if you like to configure everything!
Here, we focus on the essentials.
Web protection: 11/11
AhnLab blocked all malicious links.
Fake crack : 1/1
AhnLab blocks all files the dropper tries to install.
It then offers to send the dropper to the lab for analysis, which I accept.
Malware Pack : Remaining 27 files out of 140.
There are positives, but there are also negatives.
On the positive side, AhnLab has improved its anti-malware engine and its ability to block script attacks.
Many are blocked, or AhnLab blocks payloads once they've been downloaded.
It even manages to block a few Powershell commands.
On the negative side, AhnLab still lags far behind when it comes to violent attacks.
A RAT and some Trojans manage to install themselves and infect the machine, but another piece of malware (masquerading as a Tank video game) launches itself and starts several Powershell commands. AhnLab will try to defend itself, but since it doesn't have a more advanced defense system, will leave the PC at the mercy of the malware, which will destroy many of the machine's functions.
I'm having great difficulty launching my disinfection tools. It was promising, but it's a failure.

Final opinion:
AhnLab offers free protection for personal use.
There have been several improvements, but also a number of negative points that I've highlighted, especially in blocking unknown malware.
