This gpu is manufactured in 28nm and it has also new architecture. It will also have 384bit ram (XDR2 since they will make the next gpu for sony and/or microsoft's Xbox 720 )

I will look for the specs but what I can say from straight arm is that they will have more shaders cores and faster core. According to AMD, the 7970 should perform at the same level as the 6990, which is very impressive if you ask me.

Nvidia's response is called Kepler and the 600-series are first release for notebook. Maxwell will come after Kepler.
