Supposed members from the hacker group Anonymous are threatening to shut down the internet on March 31st, calling it 'Operation Blackout.' The decentralized group issued a press release on Pastebin announcing the their most ambitious plans yet: to take down the thirteen servers that form the DNS directory.

According to the statement, the attack is meant to send a very strong message in protest of "SOPA, Wallstreet, our irresponsible leaders and the beloved bankers who are starving the world for their own selfish needs out of sheer sadistic fun." Even though such an attack would no doubt affect everyone, the statement says that is not the purpose.

That day is my birthday ;), actually for me its likely an April Fools Day version.

They made any information about attempting to shutdown but result not a single cent were shown.

They are an ambitious group, quite the project they have scheduled for themselves! ;)

If they can take down the internet, that will be the day that I see pigs fly. Not going to happen. How would they be able to take it down?

Again? Didn't they use this kind of threat before ....... :sarcastic_hand:
All we can do now is to wait for the announcement in which they'll say a rogue Annon group was behind this 'threat' .. AHhhh , what will some people do just to get a headline for a few hours.....

Its March 31 now , where is the Operation Blackout?

Likely they made good papers just to believe by the users around the world.

Yeah, it's sucking pretty hard having no internet. Curses, Anonymous!

Nobody thought you could do it, and yet you were able to prove everyone wrong. ;)

I think this is the greatest epic fail operation attempted by Anonymous.

Lesson: Analyze on any kind of operation if they can do it before make anything as publicity.

If anyone believed it would happen, Anonymous has successfully trolled them.
