While this report by the Data Internet Security seems to suggest some sinister action by antivirus programs, it has to be noted that it makes sense that an antivirus program tracks the user. Even though this may disturb some, yet it is logical that for an antivirus program to scan and protect you from whatever threat, it has to rely on some tracking mechanism.
