Has backups encryption issue been sorted?

there is only minimal difference between encrypted and unencrypted backups, so we think something is wrong. Is it an existing bug that will be fixed?

A nice feature. Sometimes you do not want to restore the system image but you need a couple of files. Mount the system image and just copy the files you need.
