Your config is good light and strong.
But since your parents are always downloading staff i recommend installing Sandboxie. Anytime they want to serf to the internet you must learn them to run the browser through Sandboxie so when they are finished and they close the browser all changes will be deleted such as downloading adware and the system will be clean.

Thanks guys because of your knowledgeable help have tweaked my security configuration. Have completely re installed Windows 8.1 Pro from scratch and have updated my security settings(See the main post for my current configuration). Also the issue with bitdefender turning of active virus control automatically solved after complete installation). Hope this configuration buys my pc a safe new year!
