Features of Text-R Professional

  • Recognize text in PDF document: Recognize and extract text from a PDF document.
  • There are two options to select a PDF document for text recognition:
    • 1. Drag and drop: Drag a PDF document from Windows Explorer into the gray Drag & Drop area
    • 2. Select file: Use the Open File dialog known from Windows to manually select a PDF document.
    • Reset: Remove a loaded PDF document from Text-R
  • Define the settings for text recognition.
  • OCR options: Various OCR options to increase and improve the recognition rate of text recognition.
    • Scan barcodes: Activate the “Scan barcodes” switch if the contents (text and links) of barcodes are to be read out and displayed in plain text.
    • Detect sloped images: Activate the “Detect / correct skewed images” switch if Text-R should also recognize and correct text passages that are written incorrectly (for example due to an inaccurate scan).
    • Detect rotation (90 ° / 180 ° / 270 °): Activate the option “Detect rotation (90 ° / 180 ° / 270 °)” if rotated documents are to be recognized by Text-R and their contents are to be read.
    • Apply interference filter: Activate the “Apply interference filter” option if Text-R is to optimize uncleanly scanned documents and images and read their contents.
    • Detect and remove lines: Activate the “Detect / remove lines” option if lines are to be recognized and removed. Note: We recommend adding lines manually after saving.
    • Correct mixed characters: Activate the “Correct mixed characters” option if Text-R should remove / correct digits found within scanned words. Letters/characters contained in numbers found that do not correspond to the number formatting are also removed.
    • Use dictionary: Activate the “Use dictionary” option if recognized words are to be checked for existence in the dictionary and corrected if necessary.
    • Text languages: For the recognition process to be as accurate as possible, you should specify the text language (s) of the source document. Text-R can use the dictionaries integrated for the selected languages to check recognized words for existence in the dictionary.
  • Text recognition: In the third step, the source document is checked and recognized texts are displayed in an unformatted preview.
    • Source: In the “Source” area, a possibly slightly OCR-optimized variant of the source file is displayed. The size of the source can be adjusted using the reduction and enlargement symbols. If the document consists of several pages, the page to be displayed can be selected via a page selection element.
    • Preview (unformatted): The preview shows the recognized text of the selected page of the source document. You can compare source and preview and, if necessary, correct the CRC options on the previous page if you are not satisfied with the result of the text recognition. Note: The preview is unformatted and only shows recognized text. It is only used to test different OCR options.
    • Save document: To save recognized texts in a new document, please click the “Save document” button. The target document can be saved in PDF, PDF / A, RTF, TXT and XML format. We recommend saving in PDF format since the formatting and positions of texts correspond as far as possible to those of the original document.
