Ashampoo Magical Defrag 3 is a file defragmentation tool that is designed for the windows operating system. Windows includes a defragmentation tool but it is usually slow in performing drive defragmentation and lacks features that are otherwise found in third party programs. Ashampoo Magical Defrag is a set-and-forget type of program that once installed runs a defragmentation service in the background and starts drive defragmentation whenever the system is idle. This feature is accompanied by a desktop screensaver that shows the current defragment status.

Magical Defrag 3 can also be used to start drive defragmentation on demand. The on demand tool allows you to select drives that you want to defrag. The tool is intelligent and by default only selects the mechanical drives that are available on the system. As you probably know, SSDs do not gain performance due to file defragmentation, which is why the tool automatically deselects them. File defragmentation can also be set to run on a periodic schedule using jobs. You can edit the default job or create new jobs on your own. Advanced job settings provide full control over when defragment should run. For instance, you can set not to run defragment if the system is on battery mode, full screen mode, performing a print operation, and the following system activity is more than the specified limit: CPU activity, I/O activity, page activity. Thank you! I was wondering, does anybody know if this is Windows 8 or 8.1 compatible? It's not listed as compatible on their page. I have noticed a lot of defrag programs that aren't listed as Windows 8 or 8.1 compatible but have seen reports from others saying they were.

Thank you, I actually tried it, and things started to slow down, so I removed it and installed Piriform's defraggler and that seems to be working great.

You know, one thing I wish a lot of these programs would start mentioning are things like how their programs take advantage of MULTI-CORE systems like I am using. This program while good for the PC's listed, it makes no mention of multi-core PC's. I kinda got the impression while trying this on WIndows 8.1 that it was taking priority on all cores in the background and obviously not designed for my system or compatible.

I ran into a situation after getting Vista the first day it was sold to the public where everything I purchased said "WORKS WITH VISTA" or "COMPATIBLE WITH VISTA" and I can tell you those two terms mean a world of difference. I felt ripped off by purchasing some of the software I did at the time, I mean I spent probably a thousand dollars thinking VISTA was top of the line at the time, when it was so full of flaws it was ridiculous.

Thanks again for the post, I looked at that myself on their site, but I thought I would mention my experience for others who might be wondering. And I must say THIS IS MY FAVORITE SITE!!!! They took the "magical" off snap I wish they would off this also.Ashampoo does actually have a few good softwares,however this isnt one i choose to use.
