My wife recently informed me that our desktop computer was not working correctly and couldn’t access the internet. I checked to see if it was connected to our home network and it was. When I finished running the programs, the software appeared to be cleaned but the computer would still not connect to any of the normal websites, Google, Yahoo, etc. I also refreshed or reset IE, Firefox and Chrome. I then followed the instructions in the MalwareTips guide for "How to fix “No Internet After Malware Removal” (Free Guide)". I downloaded Rkill, Zemana after the first attempt at removal and restoration didn’t work.
Hello everyone. My wife recently informed me that our desktop computer was not working correctly and couldn’t access the internet. I checked to see if it was connected to our home network and it was. All other devices in the house work fine. I discovered that the search engine Astromenda was the default search engine. I couldn’t connect to Google or anything else. I used a different computer to google what the problem was and it was apparently infected with the PUP/BHJ Astromenda. Following the instructions on MalwareTips, I downloaded a bunch of programs on my laptop and saved them to a flash drive since I can’t access the internet on the infected desktop. I downloaded Malwarebytes, ADWcleaner, JRT and Hitman Pro. I then loaded them on the infected desktop and ran them in the order instructed in the removal guide. Since it won’t connect it also can’t update definitions for any of the malware removal programs or antivirus software. I currently run Avast Free antivirus. I am on the road a lot so I have limited seat time in front of the computer. Any help would be appreciated.
