No, Hard Disk Sentinel is the best program to do that, as it gives a fairly detailed description of the status of the drives it is monitoring and the alternatives mostly don't.

I haven't seen any recent benchmarks comparing the performance of them. Microsoft's own defrag software works very well and does a weekly defrag automatically. But in some cases, third party defrag tools will lead to better disk performance.

I suggest you try it and see if you notice any improvement. If you don't , uninstall it and stick with Windows Defrag.
