On February 1, 2017, the AV-TEST Institute is presenting awards for the worldwide best protection solutions for IT security in the year 2016. The institute's internationally recognized awards recognize the best products in the respective categories of PROTECTION, PERFORMANCE, USABILITY, REPAIR and ANDROID SECURITY.

The results of the AV-TEST AWARDS 2016
February 1 is a decisive day for the suppliers and users of Internet security products: Because on that day, representatives from the manufacturers of the best IT security products of the year 2016 convene under the AV-TEST banner to accept the IT security institute's awards. For the test period of the year 2016, AV-TEST is presenting a total of 15 awards.

This is what the awards stand for
Within the scope of the full-year test and certification procedures, the featured products completed all the tests of AV-TEST's experts in the two-month intervals. In the process, the candidates in the running for the awards finished with top results in the test categories of PROTECTION, PERFORMANCE (speed) and USABILITY, ANDROID SECURITY and REPAIR. At the AV-TEST Institute's 2016 awards ceremony, it is no more and no less than the summit meeting of manufacturers of the best IT security products worldwide.

AV-TEST BEST PROTECTION 2016 AWARD
Top scores in the protection of consumer PCs throughout the test period of an entire year went to a well-known name: In 2016, Norton Security from Symantec guaranteed the best production for home users and thus earns the BEST PROTECTION AWARD 2016. The AWARD BEST PROTECTION 2016 as recognition for the best protection of corporate users is shared by a total of four products this year, thanks to outstanding protection performance: Client Security from F-Secure, Symantec Endpoint Protection as well as both Kaspersky security solutions Endpoint Security and Small Office Security.

AV-TEST BEST PERFORMANCE 2016 AWARD
There should not be a trade-off between good protection and working speed of the protected systems. The fact that no trade-off is necessary was proved above all by three products in the 2016 test series, thanks to an exceptionally low resource load with simultaneously strong protection: The AV-TEST BEST PERFORMANCE 2016 AWARD in the category of consumer users goes to Internet Security from Kaspersky Lab, whereas a total of two products came out on top in terms of performance solutions for corporate users: Endpoint Security from Bitdefender and Kaspersky Lab's Small Office Security.

AV-TEST BEST USABILITY 2016 AWARD
False malware warnings unsettle users and in a corporate network can also lead to a severe amount of additional overhead and costly downtimes, when benign applications are wrongfully blocked, for instance. Internet Security from Kaspersky Lab came out on top in 2016 with the lowest false positive rate in the category of consumer users. The Award

The AV-TEST BEST USABILITY 2016 AWARD for corporate user products was earned by the Kaspersky solutions, Endpoint Security and Small Office Security.

AV-TEST BEST REPAIR 2016 AWARD
The AV-TEST BEST REPAIR 2016 AWARD among the Internet security suites was garnered by Antivirus Pro from Avira, thanks to top performance in the clean-up of infected Windows systems and simultaneous rescue of infected files. In the comparison of stand-alone clean-up tools for Window systems, the Virus Removal Tool from Kaspersky Lab proved to achieve the best results after malware attacks.

AV-TEST BEST ANDROID SECURITY 2016 AWARD
The fact that mobile devices running on Android are especially under attack was manifested by the massively increasing malware statistics collected by AV-TEST throughout the year. A total of two products proved to offer optimal solutions in protecting Android smartphones and tablets during the previous test year. That is why the AV-TEST BEST ANDROID SECURITY 2016 AWARD goes to Mobile Security from Bitdefender and the Sophos security app, Mobile Security.
