Over the past 22 months, all of the well-known security suites available on the German market have had to undergo laboratory tests and prove just how secure they really are. Germany’s largest test laboratory for anti-virus software, AV-TEST GmbH, examined the market leaders with regard to their security when used with Windows operating systems.

The remaining 10 of the 27 products tested were either not available on the market at the start of the test or did not offer a version suitable for use in the test during the test period. These products are therefore compared in a separate table at the end of the report, in which you can also see the number of tests that were carried out in order to obtain the results displayed, which varies between one to eight tests.

My only issue with these tests:

http://www.av-test.org/en/test-procedures/test-modules/usability

The so called usability sections that they test and exactly what system specs conditions they run the tests on?

They did get ESET Repair capabilities right but not on the protection end...

Were all products tested on Stock settings? Even on stock settings, not every product has the same type of configuration approach.

Still take it with a pinch of salt.

I dont get much out of these reports.I am a true believer in testing it out for yourself on your system under your personal use conditions.I value the advice of fellow forum members here and elsewhere as to which softwares are better than others.I have a tough time grasping the idea that these are all totally unbiased.

Join the club dude. Got a crate of beers and popcorn ready (umbra, stay away from them!!!)

Now on topic, these reports give a general idea but unfortunately majority of the users will believe word by word.

In a way its a way for such testing groups to inadvertently advertise products if you look at the stuff that is left behind the scenes without being mentioned...

You know, There's something about AV-TEST that I had a grudge about... Some of their test don't make much sense. I can't really put my finger on it though.

Wow. ESET at the bottom. I don't care about tests as long as the antivirus protect my system and doesn't slow down the system.

In that case, I would prefer it to slow my system down a bit than see every piece of malware out there get through.

Wow just love Bitdefender more. It's not surprsising Bitdefender is number 1 on the list.

There is more than one way to look at the results of this test.

1. Maybe BitDefender 2013 really is a excellent product.
2. Maybe BitDefender paid good money to get top scores.
3. Maybe the malware samples were fixed to give BitDefender the best results.

I will have to say that BitDefender is the most advertised AV product on the web this year.

Enjoy!!:D

I didn't agree with the point totally, maybe bitdefender advertised and paid to test labs but remember it also offer trial as other products.
Give it a try and throw some malware/virus/infected links on it,bitdefender might not block and detect 100% but I assure its rate will be higher compare to other av.

Umbra:Give it a try

P.S. I don't like or use Btdefender product but agree that it have higher detection rate.

i have EIS so i dont really need BD, since they share the same engine, for the malicious links i could use BDTL.
