One thing that I noticed in this release is that when I run the Browser Cleanup tool, it prompts me to reset my homepage to an Avast-customised Yahoo homepage or Bing :/. I did't ask it to reset my homepage, I just removed an addon. I don't like this at all.

Are you serious? I'll be removing Browser Cleanup on existing PCs running Avast, before this update is released. To be honest, it's never been useful on the computers we have anyway.

What Huracan stated is true, I agree with that, @simmy IF for some reason you got infected by browser hijack (lot of toolbars/addons that cannot be uninstalled through normal process) you might want to consider using adware cleaner from bleeping computer, I prefer using that tools rather than avast browser cleaner, still..avast is a good product, their free version even quite good, love to hear that they improved their product :)

Avast Browser Cleanup insisted I remove Lavasoft search plugin though I couldn't detect it was doing any harm. As soon as I did so, it asked me to change my search engine to Yahoo or Bing. No choice, no explanation whatsoever. I finally hit cancel and guess what? Lavasoft had not been removed at all! What a SCAM! Seriously thinking of removing Avast altogether.
