Agreed, but I am guessing that testing with default settings simulate the scenario where novice/inexperience users typically install the AV and leave it as is, out of the box. A lot of users don't do any further configuration on the AV's that are configurable.

They probably use old samples, the results are too good.

The test results for different products can't be compared to each other, as the tests were done at different times with differents samples.
