[QUOTE="HarborFront, post: 612387, member: 55987"] I'm trying to move away from Google. And yes it is also true that not all chromium-based browsers are created equal. These Chromium-based browsers have some built-in advantages over the Chrome browser in that some have better privacy implementation (like disabling connection to Google servers), have better ads and scripts control, use less memory, have built-in VPN/proxy, better tab/download/bookmark management, different UI layout, more tweak options, DNS encryption etc. However, they also have their disadvantages like no automatic update for some, have no extension support except for those built-in or with limited extension support, slow version update etc. Also, none will be able to surf as fast as Chrome if they are not using the default Google search engine. Google search results is also more relevant than other search engines. Since Chromium-based browsers are forks of Chromium many are usually 1 or 2 versions behind the stable Chromium release. Chrome is always at the forefront of stable Chromium update. On the contrary, Iridium is behind stable Chromium by 3 versions probably due to its strong privacy implementation. Browsers behind the current Chromium (Iridium, UC Browser etc) will also be behind on security updates. In the selection of Chromium-based browsers note that Chromium releases a new major version around every six weeks or so. As a consequence, the browsers based on it are being updated almost as fast with new features, functions, fixes and tweaks. Although a few browsers stood out in performance wise, it really comes down to whether the browser in question has an appealing feature set that will likely decide whether it’s right for you. So I just kicked Chrome out of my system and replaced with Chromium (with no sync, no WebRTC and no widevine) Cent browser is started by a small group of chinese developers. I find it provides much better privacy when combined with ScriptSafe and I have it on my system too.
