I am unaware of any differences related to security between the free version and paid version of Bitwarden. The paid version adds up to 1GB of file storage, emergency access, password hygiene reports, and expanded sharing options Source: Bitwarden Review. The free version and paid version both use the same open-source encryption technology. I am also willing to self-host, so did not need Bitwarden to be hosting my stuff. Self hosting can definitely cause security concerns but following their documentation and other guides on github can definitely assist anyone to set things up securely!
