First things first: I never said that you have said they do not keep data.
Uhhmm if the search engine provider is located in the US, or a US treaty zone then by law they will keep data no matter if they claim it or not.
By US law ANY company on US soil or within the US constitutional and economic zone MUST collect data and keep it or if it wishes not to store the data then a third party is fetching it for them. While i am a 100% fan of DuckDuckGo and some others... the privacy thing is a far fetched thing and is just not true.

First read then comment :p;):)

You need to watch how you word things then. I said nothing about data retention, yet you decided to bring that up so yes that is what you are saying. There are others who have said they use DuckDuckGo, yet you decide to quote mine? Why exactly? Because I said I trust them completely? That is none of your concern. You speak the obvious about the NSA. However, they are far from the only ones that do this. I do follow this type of thing. I merely state two things in my post. 1) I trust DuckDuckGo, 2) The US has no mandatory data retention laws currently in place of which you said it did. I also stated that they COULD get the data if they wanted to.

Your making a debate out of nothing but hot air. I regret posting a reply, and I'll regret posting this (big surprise, this is what the internet has become). And normally users would post a link to prove what they state. I will say what you said in your post that I've quoted here is correct though. Excluding the exact part that I quoted. I also realize they will sometimes keep data even if they state otherwise, but if you don't have proof that ALL of them do, there is no point in stating that. You can't believe in everything you hear, but you can believe what you see. I will leave it at that. I will not be returning to this thread.

People on MT can think of me as they wish. I will defend myself unless I'm wrong. Nothing in my first post is wrong. It is OPINION. I'm allowed to have one right?

Guys, guys..let's not go Wilders here. The best search engine is the one that works best for you and has known policies you agree with, can we all agree on that and reel this back in?

Dude question one more time: "You need to watch how you word things then. I said nothing about data retention, yet you decided to bring that up"

I did choose my words carefully, i did write my words exactly as i wanted them to say and i never said or pointed towards you about either storing data or data retention. Again i do not know what makes you think i said these thing, but i did not. I was talking about "THEY" now last time i checked you are not part of "THEY" are you? So again read before you reply, as i do not need to watch my words as i said nothing wrong.

That being said the reason i quoted you is not to target you, neither was it to discredit you or harm you in any shape or form ok? So hold your horses.

I quoted this part:
DuckDuckGo would be the best for privacy. The only site I fully trust without question (and yes it's partly because I trust companies from Pennsylvania, which is where I live). Other than that, StartPage, and Disconnect Search

Personally I use a VPN 99% of the time so it doesn't really matter the search engine that I use.

Thats why i quoted you and wrote what i wrote, and again it was not to target you or harm you or whatever.
It was a general and educating comment like you would expect from a forum where stuff is being talked about.
So if i did hurt your feelings, then to bad i never intended to do so as i could have quoted anyone in the same way as i have been quoted myself here on the forum many many times.
As a finishing note: Enjoy your time, here and next time read the topic again before you comment, as one more time i never said what you claimed i should have said.

Now friend, can we please go back on topic and drop this convo? As it has gone way to far and i will not say a single word anymore about this.
Conversation is over.

Have a nice day
Kind Regards
Nico
