Ransominator is a bona-fide ransomware so that might be why most vendors don't flag it, but this assumption should be taken with a grain of salt. This is probably the last video I'll make with this homemade sample, if you want to test it with other solution DM me and feel free to post your results.

The BD protected folders option even blocks gcc when compiling harmless code that I learn at the uni. So I guess it would prevent the child 7z.exe from making changes at userspace folders.

I think no antivirus is able to block this ransomware, fake ransomware? I don’t know for sure, it’s strange no behavior module to know this.

But it is available ransomware that can pass protected folders. It seems that it is not as safe as mentioned in some tests.

Only they use a whitelisted LOLbin to do the encryption job.

Try with Bitdefender Internet Security, using the free version is kind of cowardly, as it doesn't have all the layers of protection, especially the behavior blocker. Try Norton too.

I think the only thing the free version lacks is protected folders and ransomware remediation.
