I’ve only recently taken more of an interest in security. Up until now just been leaving it all to BullGuard AV set to default to take care of it for years. I’ve learnt a few things just by joining this fantastic forum and hopefully I’ve improved it a little bit, but I reckon there’s a lot more to do. Well, that the set up folks :)

Hi Exterminator,
I don’t use any software for backups. I did once use Acronis on an old WinXP machine I had, but now I just manually do it with copy & paste. I need to get a more automated software solution though. I currently have an extra internal HDD which I just copy & paste folders to from my primary HDD as an when I modify them, usually daily. I also have an external HDD which I’ll copy folders across to from the primary drive, usually every month. Most of the data which doesn’t change much is stored on DVD as an extra back up. I think I’m covered reasonably well for back but it’s a bit labour intensive so I’ve found a lot of recommended free back up software that I’m going to look into and try out which will even include system image backups which I lack. Thanks for your comment. :)

You can change in the topic that you make monthly manual backups for important data ;) I'am thinking the same as you about backups.

Thanks guys for recommending Macrium, I've now installed the Macrium Reflect Free Edition v. 6.3.1835. Created the WinPE rescue media on USB, just selected all the default options, as frankly don't have a clue what I'm doing lol Hey, sure it will be a good learning curve though finding out how it all works. :)
