Brave Launches Million Dollar Referral Program | FileHippo News

Brave Software, the company behind the Brave Browser, has announced that it’s launching up to a million dollar referral program designed to reward online publishers and YouTube Creators.
Brave is using the promotion in the hopes it will speed up adoption of the Brave Browser and grow its users base from its current 1.4 million active monthly users.

For every successful referral, creators will receive Basic Attention Tokens, (BAT), worth approximately $5 each, but only after referral users use Brave on a regular basis for a whole month.

The Brave referral program. Courage not a necessary prerequisite.

Faster, more private
The idea is that once new users try out Brave they will like it and find it a “faster, more private browser”, and keep it as their browser of choice.

The process for creators is simple and straightforward. “They invite their users to download Brave (via Twitter, Facebook, links on their YouTube channels, or a campaign badge on their site) after activating the promotion via their Brave Payments account. Later, they collect BAT for each person referred to Brave who uses the browser – at least minimally – across 30 days”.

Desktop users will be taken to a direct download of the browser, and mobile users will taken to the relevant iOS and Android stores.

As well as trying to attract new users to their browser, Brave is also hoping to create and nurture an “ecosystem” of users who can anonymously and automatically support their content providers of choice, by using Brave and its integrated in-house payments system.

Designed by one of the original minds behind Mozilla and Firefox
“Online publishers and creators are finding it increasingly difficult to stay afloat due to declining ad revenue, prevalent ad fraud, and arbitrary monetization rules from platforms that utilize their content,” said Brendan Eich, CEO and co-founder of Brave. “Brave Payments is a new system that enables seamless donations and reconnects content creators with their audience, and we hope this referral program will benefit creators even more by expanding the pool of contributors.”

There are currently around 8,000 individually Brave-verified publisher websites and YouTube channels with a combines total of more than 110 million subscribers.

BAT contributions for publishers and creators are automatically converted to ‘real’ fiat currency and deposited into their bank accounts on a regular basis.

Wondering what the forum members think about the concept of Brave: replace website's advertisement by brave advertisement. Brave ads probably hassle you less and in return of ad income Brave promises you better security.

Replacing advertisements looks like a solution for a problem I don't have. The idea of acceptable advertisements is not new either. Most adblock extensions have an option to allow acceptable advertisements. Also Google's own ad filter blocks intrusive ads. So what else is new? HTTPS everywhere included? Big deal, HTTPS everywhere is available on most browsers also Google's new ranking rules will drive all commercial websites to HTTPS.

So give me one compelling reason to use Brave browser?
