Web browser and search startup Brave has laid off 27 employees across the different departments, TechCrunch has learned. The company confirmed the layoffs but didn’t give more details about the total headcount left nor the reason for the layoffs. PitchBook however estimates that Brave has around 191 employees, working out to Brave cutting 14% of staff.

The new round of job cuts comes about 10 months after the company let go of 9% of its total workforce in October 2023. At that time, Brave said the cuts were due to “cost management in this challenging economic environment.”

Works fine for me
Thanks for checking on your end. Do you know what it was, Mullvad VPN. Even though it is just connected a few states over, that's what it came up with in my above post. Its Wireguard protocol is giving me grief again, but enabling OpenVPN, and it's fine. I'm really getting to the point of totally giving up on Mullvad.

That's a pretty slim staff for a company that wants to be an industry leader and innovator, even without the layoffs.
That's what I was thinking, too. How can they keep up and be competitive with such a small staff? Also, what about the security updates since it's Chromium based, is that, are those somehow crossed over, linked with Chrome updates? Or, are those all on Brave's end, so how can they keep up with those?

I believe the patches are applied in Chromium and other browsers update their version based on that.
That's why you don't use a niche browser if you want a browser that is most current with security updates.
Brave updates as fast as Edge, and just a tad behind Chrome. Typically ~1day.

Layoffs always amount to a an infamous buzzword : "we can do more with less" :D Where I work the department had ~ 45 employees in 1998, whittled down over the years to less than half that, even though our workload only only decreased by maybe 15% maximum. Ultimately contributing in no small part to the lining of the pockets of the CEO and the top 5 VP's to the tune of over $75,000,000 each year. No lying and no exaggeration. Of course we are always told to cut back on our spending and cut costs everywhere we can. We need to tighten our belts

I've done a search for this before and it does seem to be an issue for some. Why does Brave keep multiplying my synced devices over and over again in the Synced Device list?
I have 4 Synced PC's, and it shows 6-8 repeats of each with dates behind them. I had done a clean install of Brave, and started a new Sync chain, but they keep multiplying like rabbits?

Let's get the Sync employee back 😅
