Security firm Symantec technology released on Friday, 29, his traditional annual security threats on the Internet report. Among the data collected, it was found that Brazil is one of 10 countries in the world where most are born computer viruses.
In Latin America, Brazil ranks first in the ranking of countries that "export" malware for the world, ahead of Mexico and Argentina. In the global list, the champions are China, the United States and India. Interestingly, however, Brazil is also one of the most attacked by ramsonware countries (virus "hijacks" victim data in return for payment of a ransom).
Over 71% of all contamination by computer viruses in Brazil is through posts manually shared on social networks like Facebook. It is the highest rate in Latin America, while neighboring countries are more victims of false offers of prizes or promotions: more than 80% in Colombia, 70% in Argentina and Peru, and 51% in Mexico.
The report also states that about 500 million personal data were stolen or lost worldwide over 2015. More information about Symantec's study can be harvested by clicking Internet Security Threat Report 2016 | Symantec Corporation
