Good morning to y'all. I was reading online about persistent malware, rootkits and kernel hooking. I read somewhere about specific malware that, despite hard, could gain persistence even after a format. So I want to ask: how is this possible? What's the explanation behind it? If it hooks the kernel, this means the kernel isn't replaced/reinstalled when you clean install Windows? Thanks in advance.
