I have noticed a lot of copycats of the original AdBlock and ABP extensions, although they may not be malicious, you cannot be certain that they're trusted. (Adware companies buying Chrome extensions).

These are the ones many here use and recommend, with links to their website.

AdBlock on Chrome Web Store

Homepage: https://getadblock.com

AdBlock Plus on Chrome Web Store

Homepage: https://adblockplus.org

Or, AdGuard AdBlocker on Chrome Web Store
https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/adguard-adblocker/bgnkhhnnamicmpeenaelnjfhikgbkllg
Homepage: http://adguard.com

Below are some of the copycats versions, that may or not be that trustful.

Copycat versions:

AdBlock Premium
Code:

AdBlock Super
Code:

AdBlock Pro
Code:
https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/adblock-pro/ocifcklkibdehekfnmflempfgjhbedch

Note: I am not accusing that these extensions are malicious, but more so can you trust them? How do you know they won't sell out for a four-figure sum of cash to Adware companies.

And who's to say the trusted ones won't sell out one day. :) What are your thoughts?

The link above is a very good read. Horrifying and enlightening. Well, one more place to search when you get flooded by ads!

Adguard is the best IMO. I will not search an alternative to block ads. And you are right about your suspicions, good point. Thanks

Well a while ago i tried Adguard Adblocker and it worked well for a while...but then suddenly pages started showing adds again. So i checked the settings from Adguard Adblocker and some ( If not most. ) filter option where deactivated. I reactivated them...reloaded the pages and at that time the adds where gone.

But after i exited my browser and restarted it a few hours later, all filter rules i hat reactivated where deactivated again? I tried this several times and it happened each and every time. I do not know whether it was a bug...or i did something wrong. ( I doubt it. ) Or maybe the chrome extension only works fully for a while to give people a feeling for Adguard Adblocker, and that they then have to get the full product? ( I doubt it, but it could be a possibillity none the less. )

Maybe your cleaner software cleans your preferences. Did you use the Adguard software or Adguard extension ?

Well i will not deny that it is a possibility that CCleaner and/or Wise Disk Cleaner deletes settings from extensions...but i only use one or both once a week...so it could not be the cause from between several sessions in a row?

Any way i will install it in Yandex Browser and use it for a while to see what happens. :)

Check my guide here, http://malwaretips.com/threads/effectively-configure-adguard-adblocker-on-chrome.26389/

AdGuard suffers from "Acceptable Ads" and "Automatic filter detection". So it could be the possible cause, and would it be possible to re-visit those sites with the two above settings disabled? :)
