Austrian antivirus testing lab AV-Comparatives has released its annual Summary Report for consumer security products for 2024 (PDF available here). The report includes the results of all individual Windows tests carried out during 2024, a user-interface review for all 16 tested products, and awards recognizing individual programs in various categories.

In 2024, AV-Comparatives subjected 16 consumer security products for Windows to rigorous evaluation. These programs were tested for their ability to protect against real-world Internet threats, detect thousands of recent malicious programs, defend against advanced targeted attacks, and provide protection without significantly slowing down the PC or causing excessive false alarms.

The tested products in AV-Comparatives Consumer Main-Test Series 2024 were Avast, AVG, Avira, Bitdefender, ESET, F-Secure, G Data, Kaspersky, McAfee, Microsoft, Norton, Panda, Quick Heal, TotalAV, Total Defense, and Trend Micro.

Fourteen of the products from the 16 vendors tested earned the prestigious AV-Comparatives 2024 Approved Windows Security Products certification, showcasing their commitment to delivering high-quality security solutions.

Product of the Year

AV-Comparatives awards ESET with the Product of the Year Award 2024. Avast, AVG, Bitdefender and Kaspersky win Top-Rated Awards 2024.

AV-Comparatives’ Product of the Year Award is presented to the program achieving the highest scores across all test categories, symbolizing exceptional quality in every aspect. In the 2024 assessment, this honor is granted to ESET.

Rough year for F-Secure. It will be interesting to see what @Shadowra comes up with in his Enterprise reviews.

Seems like all in one Norton..Avast buy AVG, then Norton/Symantec buys avast, avg avira which av next? G-Data??
Maybe F-Secure? Except that quite a few ISP in Europe and in the US, (Spectrum) use a rebranded version of F-Secure as a AV option. So I'm not sure how that would work out for any purchase, buy out.

You mean to say Symantec is better and Bitdefender...😅

Norton-Avast (Gen Digital) is no longer Symantec, the enterprise division (Symantec) is now part of Broadcom, thats why Norton is actually using Avast technology in the new 24 version, they dont want to rely too much on the "old" Symantec engine.

Congrats to ESET, along the years it has suffered too much criticism along some security forum enthusiasts that got some weird expectations, but I always considered it to be a top tier solution with a perfect balance in detection, system impact, usability and false positives.

So Long live the king!
