Did that and had to run it in safe mode. I also went and searched registry manually and removed all the references to Avira and did the same on the computer. I get the same message. I did find things that I thought were unusual searching the registry. Under HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\FeatureControl\FEATURE_LOCALMACHINE_LOCKDOWN and HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-842925246-746137067-839522115-1003\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\FeatureControl\FEATURE_BROWSER_EMULATION all those exes were listed including Avira, until I deleted it Avira. Presentationhost.exe was also listed under the first one and AcroRd32.exe under the second one. . There were several keys like this with Avira in them that could not be deleted. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Enum\Root\LEGACY_ANTIVIRMAILSERVICE with different iteration of the LEGACY_ANTI... Under HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\FeatureControl\FEATURE_BROWSER_EMULATION Avira.Systray.exe is listed.
