If cyber armegeddon begins to unfold in some aspect, or all aspects, of a future war, who will the cyber security companies align themselves with, and who will they cut off sales to? How much of a factor will they be in cyber warfare exchanges between nations???
Or will it be more like a small Illuminati-like group, or a massive international organized crime syndicate, taking over drones and unleashing worms and viruses on financial institutions and utilities, that propels the world into chaos?

In my opinion, I guess that they won't cut sales to anybody, just like the conventional weapons dealers and manufacturers. They "trick" everyone to use their products, and the winner will be...no one? But that depends on how you use that product for you protection. Money is more important than aligning with one of the "belligerent" sides.
Governments will pay a lot of good money to train their cyber soldiers, will pay a lot of money to acquire to best, in their mind, cyber security software. So, a new arms race begins, only this time are digital weapons the main star.
Just my two cents:)

I don't think that he'll do that, I've read that the EU and US are "fighting" against that kind of payed for censorship

We can only hope. While every good thing will always be manipulated by thugs, to a certain extent, the internet is too important to humans to be held hostage.

...and in the end...

you will be one with The Borg - you will ALL be one with The Borg
you will be assimilated - resistance is futile

I don't know. I know how you French revolutionaries are. LOL

I would not want to see our revolution fizzle out and allow Cyber Napoleon to take over the internet only to be crushed by the Ruskies and Cossacks. hahahaha

Sorry. I could not resist. ;)

I like the way you think. Excellent point.

a new arms race begins

I could not agree more. What a novel thought.

This seems a perfect plot for a Cyber-Fiction Novel.
Anyway a Cyber Armageddon may be happening right behind our backs right now with us totally ignorant.

They cannot fight the whole world, because the internet gain more importance to individuals just like water and other essentials. If you try to take one's rights you may succeed, even to a few hundred but don't try to take over 7 billion because you will lose everything. I'm not saying that 7 billion have internet, but this "cyber war" affects all of as in one way or another.
