I tried many 3rd party firewalls but the hassle and incompatibilities always become too much in the end and I revert to the built-in Windows Firewall. Any other recommendations?

How is the stability of HTTPS Everywhere on Chrome seeing it's a beta?
I'm generally very reluctant to use beta quality software, but if it's a beta only in name, I'd be more willing to give it a go.

It is only a name, even my mother using this extension (I am serious)
There is no broken sites or things with this extension. It is just a name, I can assure you.
