Hi
I'm having a hard time deleting a virus. I did a full scan with Microsoft Security Essentials and it alerted me for win32 gamarue gen!a virus. It wouldn't show the file location but it was in a HKLM\Software file. I removed the virus from quarantine, cleaned my registry with CCleaner and reset Chrome settings, but the virus kept showing up after rebooting.
I switched from MSE to Avast just to show the file location. Avast didn't catch any viruses but kept blocking a threat from differentia.ru/diff.php and showed the process Windows\SysWOW64\msiexec.exe with it.
I did a scan with FRST and I attached the files as required. I also tried to scan my laptop using MalwareBytes 3 but for some reason the scan always stuck and after that I had a hard time quiting the program or doing anything else as long as it remained open, until I uninstalled it.
I would be really glad if someone could help me with this!

Scan with Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware

Please download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and save it to your desktop.
  • Install the progam.
  • Click the Settings tab, in the left panel choose Protection and tick Scan for rootkits.
  • Click the Scan tab, choose Threat Scan is checked and click Start Scan.
  • If threats are detected, click the Apply Actions button. You will now be prompted to reboot. Click Yes.
  • Upon completion of the scan (or after the reboot), click the Reports tab.
  • Double-click the Scan Log.
  • At the bottom click Export and choose Text file.
Save the file to your desktop and include its content in your next reply.

Hi
I downloaded and installed MalwareBytes 3 from your link. It was the same version I used before and like before the scan got stuck in one file and remained the same even I leave it for 2 and a half hours. I could't cancel the scan, I couldn't quit the program and the only I could shut down/restart was using the power button on the laptop. No matter how many times I try, this happens always.
I should also mention that today I haven't had notification from avast about the website differentia.ru, but I haven't done anything so I remain sceptical about the virus.

Hi again
I'd really appreciate your help cause I don't know what to do next. Malwarebytes detected a threat during the short time of scan before it got stuck. It came from a file YourFileDownloader. I checked the task manager and a process with this name was running even though I have uninstalled this program months ago. I didn't delete the file because I'm waiting for your help and I don't want to do any action without consulting you.

I dont know what's happening now. I followed the steps above and run the scans. Below is the file from AdwCleaner. When I try to upload the FRST and Addition files it shows an error uploading the files and when I tried to copy their content directly in the reply it said to me that I was blocked from the page. I included 2 screenshots below.
Beside that 2 days ago a new program simply named g appeared in my Startup programs and it was linked with an infected file in the Appdata\Roaming\Windows\Programs\Startup and when I open msconfig I can't disable it from running with my Startup programs and I can't delete the file because it requires Administrator permission.

FRST.gif
Fix with Farbar Recovery Scan Tool

icon_exclaim.gif
This fix was created for this user for use on that particular machine.
icon_exclaim.gif

icon_exclaim.gif
Running it on another one may cause damage and render the system unstable.
icon_exclaim.gif

Download attached fixlist.txt file and save it to the Desktop:

Both files, FRST and fixlist.txt have to be in the same location or the fix will not work!

  • Right-click on
    FRST.gif
    icon and select
    RunAsAdmin.jpg
Run as Administrator to start the tool.
(XP users click run after receipt of Windows Security Warning - Open File).
  • Press the Fix button just once and wait.
  • If for some reason the tool needs a restart, please make sure you let the system restart normally. After that let the tool complete its run.
  • When finishes FRST will generate a log on the Desktop, called Fixlog.txt.

Please attach it to your reply.

It is behaving very good. That program appearing in my startup menu is gone now along with its file. I don't have any obvious problems. I was able to run a scan with malwarebytes successfully this time and I have attached below the results. Is there anything else I should do?
