I read on several forums that Microsoft Edge has problems with the Kaspersky web protection extension; however, I also heard that the newest version of Edge fixes these issues and works like a charm. So is MS Edge fully compatible with the Kaspersky web protection module and the extension plugin? Does phishing protection, blocking of unintentional downloads, blocking of malicious web addresses work just as well as Chrome/Firefox?

Thank you.

Yes, the latest version of Microsoft Edge (chromium-based) is designed to be compatible with Kaspersky web protection and its extension. It should provide the same level of protection against phishing, unintentional downloads, and malicious web addresses as it does on Chrome/Firefox. However, individual experiences may vary, and it's always recommended to keep your software up-to-date for optimal performance and security.

You can try it and find the answer, it will look like this if it didn't work:

But honestly you don't need it, Kaspersky has a good web protection by default and don't need the extension to block malicious and phishing websites, all it will do is slow down your browsing experience.

If it doesn't work for you, or you want a security extension that will not slow down your Microsoft Edge browser, I recommend using McAfee® WebAdvisor - Microsoft Edge Addons.

I
Kaspersky Protection should work in Edge, but maybe a bug while updating "overwriting" the previous K. version led to that issue.

Try to uninstall K. and run a clean install again.
I'm assuming it is working on my Edge browser according to lokamoka820's answer. I may be incorrect. Anyway, lokamoka820 mentioned that Kaspersky web protection and its main functions works without the extension? Is that right? If so, then what is the purpose of the extension exactly?

Many thanks.

From Kaspersky support page:
In order for Kaspersky to fully support browsers, the Kaspersky Protection extension must be installed and enabled in the browsers. The Kaspersky Protection extension injects a script into the web page opened in Protected Browser and into traffic. The application uses this script to interact with the web page and to transmit data to banks whose websites are protected by the Safe Money component. The application protects data transmitted by the script using a digital signature. The application can embed the script without using the Kaspersky Protection extension.
When working with your browser, the Kaspersky Protection extension allows you to:
  • Manage Private Browsing.
  • Manage Anti-Banner.
  • Inform about suspected phishing.
  • Inform about website problem.
  • Open On-Screen Keyboard.

From Kaspersky support page:
So it's necessary for safe money but otherwise more of a management plugin. I always thought it to be something like Bitdefender Trafficlight or Norton Safe Web, but I guess I was wrong. Anyway, thanks for taking your time to explain that so clearly.

Kaspersky does not work in all web browsers, in SlimJet the extension does not work, plus you can open malicious links and Kaspersky will never block them, i performed this test and that is why I switched to Vivaldi, at least there Kaspersky does work, the extension does not I tried it, but when it comes to web protection it does work.

Not all browsers supported by antivirus software in general not just Kaspersky alone, it is why recommended to use main browsers at least for your banking and important accounts, from Kaspersky support page in system requirements section:
System requirements

The following browsers are supported on Kaspersky Account and provide you with full functionality:

Desktop
  • Google Chrome (Windows and macOS)
  • Mozilla Firefox (Windows and macOS)
  • Safari (macOS)
  • Microsoft Edge (Windows)
  • Yandex.Browser (Windows)
  • Opera (Windows)
