E3 is almost upon us. With a number of pre-event conferences taking place this coming Sunday, there are only a few days left before we discover which big games are unveiled this year. We know for certain that Watch Dogs 2 will make an appearance, and rumors suggest that Wolfenstein: The New Order 2, Dead Rising 4, The Evil Within 2, and the long-awaited Prey 2 are some of the other titles set to be revealed.

Bethesda is one of the companies holding its E3 briefing this Sunday, where it’s rumored to be announcing sequels to Wolfenstein: The New Order - confirmed to exist after a voice actress revealed she was working on the game - and The Evil Within. Plus, seeing as Bethesda mentioned it in a job posting last month, might there be talk of a rebooted Quake?

An industry insider claims that Prey 2 will also be on show. The game had been in development for years before Bethesda officially canceled it in 2014, but some say that it has been completely rebuilt by Dishonored developer Arkane, and that it won’t actually be called “Prey 2”

The same insider says that Bethesda will be revealing an Xbox One and PS4 remaster of The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim, which will contain "mods, all DLC [and] improved visuals.”

Away from Bethesda, a fourth installment in the Dead Rising series is expected to be revealed at E3. ThisGenGaming recently posted (blurry) images showing the game, which, if they’re to be believed, reveal that original protagonist Frank West is returning to the series.

The next installment in the zombie franchise is supposedly set in Willamette, Colorado – the same location as the first title – lending credence to the rumors that it will essentially be a modern remake of Dead Rising 1.

It was recently reported that GTA developer Rockstar Games was working on new projects. The news came via Take-Two’s earnings report, which referenced Rockstar’s “exciting future projects that will be revealed soon.” While work on GTA 6 has already started, it’s still in the early stages of development, and GTA online continues to be a cash cow for Take Two, so don't expect any to hear about the sixth game at the conference. But if Red Dead Redemption 2 isn’t unveiled, I’ll be quite surprised.

Some other potential E3 titles include the new Legend of Zelda game (definitely), Mass Effect: Andromeda (highly likely), and Beyond Good and Evil 2 (wishful thinking). But this year’s event may be more about the hardware than the games

Nintendo has said that its NX console, due for release next year, won’t be at E3, but expect to see the Playstation Neo and Xbox Scorpio – along with possible other variations of the consoles - to be the biggest talking points of the show.

NeoGAF Image Source: Xbox One S Image leaks - 40% smaller, 2TB, 4K video and HDR

"For a start, check out that compact design -- the S is much smaller than the gigantic original (40 percent), and its white, patterned case is definitely more eye-catching. The power brick is internal, too.

Also, our sources say that the features mentioned in the leak are on the mark. This system will support both 4K video and High Dynamic Range content, making it a good complement to your brand new TV. You'll also get that cavernous 2TB hard drive, a "streamlined controller" and a vertical stand for showing off." - Microsoft's 4K-capable Xbox One S leaks before E3

In an interview with the Financial Times, Sony executive Andrew House has confirmed that a new, more-powerful PlayStation 4, codenamed "Neo," is coming, but says it will not be unveiled at E3. House, who is the president and global chief executive of Sony Interactive Entertainment, says the new system will be sold alongside the existing PS4 for the entirety of this console generation. "It is intended to sit alongside and complement the standard PS4," he told the FT, "we will be selling both [versions] through the life cycle."

The new console will output both video and games at up to 4K resolution. House confirmed reports that all games released this generation will continue to support the base PS4 model. As for what the "Neo" will support, House said "all or a very large majority of games will also support the high-end PS4." We assume that means all games will run on Neo, but some may not be optimized to offer graphical improvements. Otherwise that's just crazy talk.

The rest of the interview is light on real news. House said the new console will target hardcore gamers and those with a 4K television looking for more high-res content. He noted that the console will be more expensive than the base model, which is a given, but would not give a price, a release date, or even a date when the machine would be formally announced. The one thing he did confirm? It won't be at E3 next week.

The reason behind House's sudden openness on the subject is obvious: Microsoft is widely rumored to be announcing its own set of hardware refreshes at a press conference on Monday. Sony wants investors and the public alike to be aware that something better is around the corner in the world of PlayStation as well.

The rumors are true: We're getting a prettier version of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Developer Bethesda ported the original game to this round of modern consoles as part of the development process for last year's wildly popular Fallout 4, so it was just a matter of time before we actually saw it. And guess what? Mods are coming with it, thanks to Bethesda's framework that allows players to use fan-made customizations on consoles. This new version of the game looks really well-improved in the visual department too and you can check it out in the trailer embedded below.

Does mod support mean that we'll see the game's dragons replaced withMy Little Ponies? It certainly sounds like it. Let's hope that Bethesda has that pesky piracy situation under control soon. Time to get those vocal cords ready for all the shouting (FUS RO DAH) you'll be doing come October 28th when it launches for new-gen consoles.

That's right. You paid $60, or two times that for the fancy editions, WITHOUT SPACE COMBAT, and we're going to charge you another $60+ to have a Star Wars Battlefront game, that looks like it won't even actually have land combat. Mark my words, the space combat probably won't even be very good. It'll be GREAT to look at, but the buck will stop there. These people.

Edit: Don't forget that you have to buy a VR to even play the darn thing.
