eScan is an Indian antivirus that is beginning to make a name for itself in the IT security world. Well-known in the enterprise sector, eScan still offers software for home users. eScan uses 2 engines: Bitdefender and its proprietary engine. One thing that particularly surprised me was that, despite a fiber-optic line, eScan took 43 minutes to update, which is a very long time! User interface : The main interface is fairly clear and colorful, but the configuration lacks color, reminiscent of old-school interfaces à la Windows 95/98 . The software is fairly well configured by default, so much so that I was surprised that after installation, its anti-spam, firewall and cloud modules were deactivated... I activated them before testing. In terms of RAM consumption, eScan is quite greedy and several disk impacts were felt... Web protection: 13/14 eScan's powerful Web filtering is based on that of Bitdefender. Malware has passed. Fake crack : 1/1 eScan detected the file before I ran it using the Bitdefender engine. Malware Pack : Remaining 19 files out of 110. eScan is very fast at analyzing and dealing with threats. I've seen positive developments on unknown threats to counter them. eScan has several times reacted well to avoid the worst. However, it still needs to do more to block process injections by certain Trojans. It's well on the way. Final scan : eScan : 0 Malwarebytes : 10 NPE : 3 KVRT : 5 (Infection Memory !! ) Final opinion: eScan is an antivirus that has evolved and strengthened its protection. It has become a good student and has protected the machine as well as it could. More needs to be done to block unknown malware, as one Trojan managed to inject a process into memory. However, 2 problems I encountered also lower the score: - eScan is rather heavy, which can slow down the computer - KVRT detected 2 eScan files as infected... I'm thinking of a false positive, but one that may panic users. Nevertheless, eScan is an antivirus that's making progress, and I hope it continues to do so. Recommended for cautious use on the Internet. @anirbandutta01 request
