Three more things, because I forgot.

1. Running FRST without a problem. Eset didn't rebel.
2. During on-demand scanning of this file (it didn't detect anything when downloading to the computer)
detects CLEAN.exe ML/Augur (PUA) in ZoneAlarm. On the VT page it is clean
And now:
a) I'm not sure if it scans in real time while downloading packed files (in the settings it is supposed to scan in real time)
b) Why does Eset show that the file is clean on VT but doesn't like it on the computer

3. If I download something to my computer via a browser and Eset doesn't like something, it's annoying. First a window and Firefox blocks it. You let it through, then another alert that it's on the disk. And when you want to check a given file on VT, Eset blocks it. You have to mark it so that it ignores. And then if it turns out that it is a dangerous file, you have to add it to quarantine yourself. This kind of thing is annoying. Fsecure wasn't that stupid in this regard.

Although I don't change HIPS frequently I like how they've added sidebar to show content of selected rule.

Just an FYI: I just got update to 18.1.10.0 on regular update channel. Though I manually checked for updates.
Thanks. Same here. It updated signature 3 minutes ago but I had to manually check for updates to trigger the program update. Surprisingly, update size was only 11 MB. ESET's product updates were usually bigger. But of course, the smaller the better.

I got 18.1.10.0 last night, was looking at advanced settings | Hips and noticed that alert_if_startup_change (paraphrase) was off by default - so I enabled and needed a reboot and "broke" login on both admin and sua. I recovered eventually. Not sure if it was a conflict or what happened. temporarily brutal. Normally eset nod32 VM is very stable.

I take it that if I wanted to use a password manager in Eset Safe Banking and Browsing, I would need to use theirs, or copy and paste from my Proton Pass desktop app?

I use the Proton pass browser extension with Eset Smart Security with zero issues, no need to copy or paste. Not sure if this answers your question or not.

Thank you for the reply :) With the normal Eset protected browser, Proton works great, it's when I launch Safe Banking and Browsing from the desktop shortcut, I get this message when both Brave, and Chrome are set as the default browsers. Not sure if I'm doing something wrong, or if I tried Edge it may work? Otherwise, part of the security in that protected browser is maybe what extensions can or cannot be installed?

I just recently started using Eset so am not familiar with everything yet so I'm a bit confused here. These are the settings I use and I have no shortcut for Safe Banking. I guess you need to use the Browser Privacy and Security setting??

Thank you for your ideas (settings), I'll play around with some of the settings and see if I can get somewhere with it :) :)

edit: when I installed Eset it created a Safe Banking and Browsing desktop shortcut, I just had to create the app shortcut myself. I like having one there.
