I have seen r/scams recommending victims to just ignore and tune out threatening messages, and to deal with possible fallout by lying, such as claiming the pictures are AI-generated. Is lying unethical?

Hacking computers is considered illegal in most jurisdictions. Scam baiters seem to do that sometimes. Is that legal? Unethical?

If the consequences from a cause are influenced by agents, then they will change them whenever...

The OP could be trolling. If someone has gained unauthorized access, they can do everything and that includes monitoring for banking details or even changing pw/pins using email/sms.

If the attacker wants money,no need to interact with OP. He already have the gates open. I'm not sold on his claims.

LOL darwin awards material ☠️ The best outcome is that he gets scammed again and makes another reddit post about how he got scammed twice.

You feel for people in this situation, but then you probably shouldn't send nudes anyway to random people on the internet?

If it's these bastards doing sextortion to kids/teenagers and blackmailing them I'd suggest a missile attack 🚀 on them.

I think their targets are younger people; teenagers, yes, but sometimes younger adults too. If you remember the uncertainty, the possibilities, and the hormones raging during the teenage years, you would partly understand why sending nudes doesn’t seem out of the ordinary. This scolding/warning is common in these cases: nobody wants to see your dick pics.

I've heard of someone getting targeted simply for being loud-mouthed on Reddit, which led to private messages resulting in sextortion attempts. It's probably more common in males, but even younger females fall for this in some situations too.

As far as I could get, the OP wants just to delete all the files on the blackmailer's PC, including the photos used for blackmail.

Is it ethical to buy a ransomware with the last money you have and then spread it and scam companies because you're broke? 🤔
No need to ponder on that one. It is same as saying "I am broke, so it is excusable to rob a bank." You don't turn to crime just because you are broke. You turn to free gov't job training and other govt assistance.

Put your hands in the air, Mr. @Marko :) 😨… The bold, handsome, and default-deny-loving officer, Mr. @Victor M 😎, ready to block bank robbers, is on the scene! 😊

In theory it's unethical, but in reality it's being done and use by novice, pros and even govt agencies. This is the real world we are living.
Exactly; when gov A use malware against gov B; gov B considers it unethical and hostile action, while gov considers it a patriotic action.
Everything is relative, except for death.

May be broke bank robber analogy is not quite relevant.

The poster is trying to use criminal means to Prevent a crime. Have to ask chatgpt for precedents.

Do not need to ask chatgpt what happens when a inexperienced person gets their hands on malware. It's not their place to approach this, that's what laws, and law enforcement is for.

No part of this would be ethical and exactly why I wrote what I did above.
