According to earlier promises of the Mozilla Foundation, Facebook users can now try out the Messenger integration directly in Firefox.

Social API is a new interface for web browsers (not only for Firefox), that Mozilla is working on. The solution is to ensure the integration of social networking sites, as well as other Internet services (eg Gmail) directly from the same browser.

Messenger for Firefox is the first example of using Social API in Firefox, which can be activated by going to this address and clicking on the Enable button. Remember, however, that for this purpose we need to have a beta of Firefox (with the number 17.0) or Aurora (18.0). Stable release browser with number 16.0.1 and earlier are not supported.
