I see that so many people on here are talking about false positives, I'm assuming that means that an anti-virus app said that they were infected when they weren't. I'm having trouble getting apps to tell me that my phone is infected and to deal with the problem because I know for certain that it is. But even with premium on any of the more popular antivirus software they keep saying my phone is clean. What can I do to be sure and clear my device of undetected malware?

Hi @Michael A Arrowood what symptoms (if any) are you facing that make you conclude that your device is infected?

The cloud of false positives posts that you find here is mostly attributed to Computer antivirus solutions (not to say the opposite for smartphones).

As far as your Android is concerned:
Android doesn't have viruses as such. Apps run in sandbox and do not directly affect the system. Still, some apps may
  • Steal data or perform malicious activities due to the permissions you've given to the app during their installation
  • Download files or unnecessary apps suspiciously, again because the app demanded unnecessary permissions during installation of it makes you do so
  • If you've rooted your phone, the case will be entirely different.
Basically, if you find no bad symptoms, and if antivirus (premium ones have no extra detection features generally) didn't detect a problem, your Android should be clean.
Be safe!

Random restarts, Google play pop-ups, ads on home screen, slow loading, these are the symptoms of my sick Android

Backup your contacts and reset the phone to factory.

Resetting the system to factory is the only way to be sure that the system is clean.

If the phone is rooted, then you might have problems. You might also want to consider locking the phone down.
