Took the laptop in for replacing fan and had ordered this one - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/GENUINE-A...840?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item3cd77092e8

Our computer is an acer aspire 5750G with Nvidia 540M ( http://www.notebookcheck.net/Review-Acer-Aspire-5750G-2354G50Mnkk-Notebook.70966.0.html )

Now, the boy that tried to replace the fan said this was the wrong one, that we needed to buy the fan with the whole 'metal thing' and I think that means the heatsink? Like this one http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Fan-For-A...948?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item19ffaa3424

So, I just don't want them to take the pi*s out of us, is it true that the whole heatsink needs to be replaced or did they just want to sell the part or they just didn't know how to fit the fan? >___< would be so glad for some advice! Me and my partner are a bit lost on this one.

If you want to replace the fan for laptop, you want to buy original one for that laptop and as you can see in the picture, you don't need to replace the whole thingy, just the ventilator. It has 3 screws, unscrew, replace and you are good to go.
The whole heatsink and small radiators cannot be broken (except physically), and if it's original part for your laptop, it can be replaced without copper holders and spliters

So basically, I don't need to replace the heatsink at all, the fan should just easily be screwed onto the heatsink? How do I know its an original part? When I watch videos on youtube where they clean the fan, the fan looks and is shaped exactly like the one I bought, except for that they have the heatsink that does look like it's very attached to the fan, look at this video...
But if he was only bullsh*ting us then will def. go to someone else. He scratched the screen >__<

You can see, if the fan is the problem (peeling for example) replace the fan. If the heatsink is melted then replace the whole thing ;)

Perfect, not going back to that shop again :P Got the fan, should be fine then!! He said it didnt fit and would need the right fan with the heatsink! I think the fan has popped or something, because it was making noises and then suddenly one day stopped and since then the temperatures were crazy and couldn't game anymore cause computer would shut off after 2 minutes.
