A GCHQ proposal that would enable eavesdropping on encrypted chat services has been condemned as a “serious threat” to digital security and human rights.

In an open letter signed by more than 50 companies, civil society organisations and security experts – including Apple, WhatsApp, Liberty and Privacy International – GCHQ was called on to abandon its so-called “ghost protocol”, and instead focus on “protecting privacy rights, cybersecurity, public confidence, and transparency”.

Certainly wouldn't go to either country
Although the first amendment basically makes all collected data useless unless there's a court order involved, then the fifth amendment applies (self incrimination).

What law enforcement has been caught doing is using information obtained illegally (thus law enforcement officials have become the criminals) against various people in the US.

The US, with it's private prison system...ouch, I would stay away (several judges been caught getting $$$ to send innocent people to jail). All politicians are corrupt, but US politicians are incredible corrupt for a Western country.

China of course is far far worse.

Scandinavian countries are ideal, if you can stand the winter.

Nah..... I support the GCHQ Ghost Protocol.

Unless you are passing grid coordinates for the next terrorist attack.... or if you don't care about it being stopped... you want GCHQ having access to encrypted apps. They don't care about your animal porn.

I'm afraid free speech disappeared here a while ago, and no offensive often doesn't mean threatening... It seems like any form of criticism to politicians, beliefs, opinions, whatever it may be often makes you a "right wing extremist". The fact that some people are and some people aren't offended by things, proves that being offended is a choice, offend somebody and you may as well have just assaulted someone. You'll be treated the same way.

Remove free speech, you remove democracy. I want to get out of here.
