Never before has the entry-level PC gaming scene looked so good. A few short months ago, AMD's RX 460 impressed us enough to have made it as the recommendation for our PC buying guide's Budget Box. We thought the RX 460 2GB was an exceptional value when it was $110 and now it should start becoming available at just $100.

The reason for this is of course Nvidia's new GeForce GTX 1050, which we have to admit is even more impressive than we anticipated.

What do you think in the 1050 ti 4gb vs the 1060 3gb? I need opinion if the extra 70 euros are worth it. The cpu will be an intel i3 6100.
Well it's hard to tell.
You see :

So, GTX 1060 is faster comparing to RX 470 to a very little margin, both priced around 200$ on Amazon and NewEgg, although in my place 1060 3GB is 10 bucks pricier than RX 470...
Both are positioned at very best price per performance point. Both are worth the money you spend. Go with GTX 1060 if you want the 55-65FPS framerate on MAX settings in 99% of the games. And probably the same performance in 2 years from now

It seems that it can sustain practically all games at 1080p at high detail and ultra. So it should hold up well also the impact with all the latest titles? ;)
Yes, it will game with great framerates in Med/High Presets, and will probably do the same with upcoming titles, as it already handles Tomb Rider on max at 54 FPS according to TechSpot and 57 FPS according to HEXUS. Which is great for 150$ Card (they say 140 , but it will be at least 150)

My chart :

GTX 1050 Ti - Best for med/high gaming at 1080p AMD has no new product competing with this card at this price point
GTX 1060 3GB - Best for high-end gaming on 1080p RX 470 4GB is great 1080p gaming card, if you see the price drop at 170$ get it right away
GTX 1060 6GB - Good for 1440p gaming RX 480 4GB excellent for 1080p gaming and can handle 1440p with decent framerates
GTX 1070 - Great for 1440p gaming AMD has no new product competing with this card at this price point
GTX 1080 - Good for 4K gaming AMD has no new product competing with this card at this price point
GTX TITAN Pascal - Great for 4K gaming AMD has no new product competing with this card at this price point

Good means medium to high preset
Great means no compromise at mentioned resolution

But won't the i3 bottleneck the 1060? And I jsut want to 1080p gaming.

I think it will work but just barely. An I3 is not really an optimal gaming CPU and in CPU-intensive games the CPU might not cut it! I´d go with an I5. Even a used I5 like a I5 3570 or similar will be a great increase in CPU performance compared to that I3 unless you OC the **** out of it!

It depends on the game and sure you might lose a few fps but no as many you will lose with the 1050ti. Also sooner or later dx12 will be used and it improve things even more.
If you can go with an i5 do it and it will pay itself in the long run if not the i3 will be fine.

The problem is the money. I barelly had money to get the i3 6100 instead of the pentium g4400. I'll probably get the 1050 ti because its cheaper and good enough to play at 1080p

Go with the i3 and 1060. It will be worth it especially with just 70$ price difference. It's a shame to get the 1050ti with such difference. Anw it's your money and you decide i am just giving my opinion.

If you haven´t already bought the cpu do some digging and see if the games you are playing are CPU or GPU intensive. Mostly they are GPU intesive today but it could be worth checking out! Also, ALWAYS check the option of getting "second hand" stuff! Usually you can do real bargains for very competent cpu´s and gpu´s just a year old or so!

If i were you i´d wait, save my money, and get the 1060 when i had saved enough. Way better option IMO than the 1050Ti!!

In my contry they still sell i3 530 at 110€ that is the price of a new one. Second hand is not worth it in my country

i3 is enough, don't worry, especially 6100 as clocked at 3.7GHz , and probably the most underrated CPU. It's a beast in gaming.
If i7 6700 (non overclock) will give you 114 FPS in some game then i3 6100 will give you 110 FPS with dedicated CPU in the same game.

Most people are forgetting that gaming is mostly a GPU's job, and CPU clocked at 3.7GHz with hyperthreading is more than enough for non-overclockers or people low on budget. Even new Battlefield 1 is greatly ran with dedicated GPU supported by Skylake i3.

Considering eye undetectable difference in gaming, i3 is the best bang for the buck considering that i5 is priced double, and i7 more than 3x price of an i3 CPU.
Heavily multithreaded games are making a 5% of all games.

i3 even beats i5's in some scenarios
