ESET provides Google with technology to protect Chrome users against unwanted software.

What is Chrome Cleanup?
Google Chrome Cleanup, now powered by ESET, is a security tool that alerts Google Chrome users to potential threats.

The tool automatically notifies Google Chrome users when it finds potentially unwanted or malicious software. It can also remove the threat for you.

ESET provides Google Chrome with the engine for the cleaner, which is available in the latest version of Google Chrome.

I heard about that but i'm not sure is it already in Chrome or will come in next version?
Is it integrated in Chrome or I must add/download something?

This may answer your first question :)
As for the second question i am not sure, but i think it's integrated in the browser. It could work a bit like Microsoft Edge scanning a file after download.

How Chrome Cleanup works
Chrome Cleanup uses ESET technology to identify and eradicate suspicious or unwanted software on your Windows computer. The tool operates in the background, with no slowdowns or interruptions to the user.

So its somewhat like those from the app section of Chrome? From above, its influence is not solely limited to chrome/whatever downloads through chrome/cookies/temp files?

As far as I see the Google Chrome Cleanup is a separate tool:

"This application will scan and remove software that may cause problems with Chrome, such as crashes, unusual startup pages or toolbars, unexpected ads you can't get rid of, or otherwise changing your browsing experience."

Chrome could have integrated that adwcleaner from malwarebytes if pups/adwares were sole target. I did get a pup problem once through first experience of warez. Adwcleaner did great.
Now it will possibly scan everything that may use my network/internet? The sandbox approach sound good, like Comodo's habit of sandboxing everything.

Looking forward to any tests done with this tool. Since its ESET powered it should be good enough. I do wonder if this tool becomes really effective, will adwcleaner be still around & used. Loved that product, check every week with it.

I ran it. It did not detect anything bad, and then it offered to default my browser settings.
It is basically a tool for people who are having a problem because Chrome got messed up somehow or another and they don't know how to fix it themselves.

To clarify, you have to download the Chrome Clean Up tool to benefit from this correct?
Apparently it's built in to chrome, superseding the older standalone tool.
Meanwhile, the Chrome Cleanup Tool has been upgraded with better unwanted software detection and removal. IT security firm ESET has combined its detection engine with the browser’s sandbox technology. Notably, the tool is no longer a standalone download, but built into Chrome for Windows.
Google Chrome is now better at removing software that hijacks the browsing experience

@venustus said it right.
Google Chrome CleanUp is a part of Chrome protecting it from potentially unwanted or malicious software. They probably mean when you download using Chrome.
Chrome Cleanup Tool is just a specialized Chrome uninstaller or settings modifier.

They are just bad at naming stuff :sneaky:

The cleanup tool will be popular at small scale companies with less tech junkies around & normal users who are not paranoid enough to set custom settings. Just download & run. Yep its for plenty of users, described well by shmu26 above.
