Google Drive could be available to internet users as soon as next week, based on details that leaked on Monday.

Although rumours have been circling for awhile, it was widely reported in March that Google would launch its own online storage and collaboration service, dubbed Google Drive, at some point in April.

5GB free storage is a very decent amount of space and knowing Google this product will be top-notch (easy to use and with a great look) and most likely we will be able to log into our account with the Gmail account......
If I were Dropbox or a similar company I would be very worried.... ;)

I currently use the free version of Dropbox, which is 2 GB and all I keep up there is my TAFE work, but with another extra 3 GB I could store a bit of my music up there and other things.

Hope Dropbox will answer with equal amount of free space ;o
It's not just about space...I'm sure Google will make everything more easy and intuitive.... I'm using a lot of Google services and they are all top-notch.

5GB Drive + 7GB Gmail

SkyDrive has 25GB, but no official desktop application for simplicity, or you opt for using IE9 and Silverlight for best experience of SkyDrive.

EDIT: Microsoft released a native app called SkyDrive 16.4.

No, that's Windows Explorer with SkyDrive integration.

There is no official application for Windows XP, Vista or 7 without using a web browser, and Windows 8 isn't released on sale yet.

Now Dropbox has automatically update my account storage to 2.8GB :D

I am not a person who likes to put everything in a cloud. So 2.8GB is enough for me :p but if google launched google drive I would probably use it.

Well Google holds almost every other aspect of my life on their servers, so why not my files.

Approximately the same price as SkyDrive so it will be very difficult to choose cloud storage in the near future :D

@iPanik But SkyDrive has 7GB of space for free, not 5GB. Also, if you were a member before the re-design, you could get 25GB of space, like I have! :D

even the 25gb from SkyDrive is not enough for me, so i have to break out the wallet anyway.
After having tried Dropbox, SkyDrive and GDrive, Dropbox is still my favorite and i want to stay loyal to them. However the price difference is to high to ignore and if Dropbox doesn't respond to this new competition by July (where my subscription is to be renewed), i will probably change to SkyDrive.

I can see the convenience factor of the cloud. I have accumulated a lot of cloud space just from 2 sources, 4 Hotmail accounts + my box.com from buying my HP Touchpad so I'm up to 150gb. That's well above what I would ever need so I just use it as a redundant backup space. Takes forever to upload though! ALSO, if you had a Hotmail account before 4/22/12 you need to sign in and click the Free upgrade button or you will be stuck with just 7gb.

It was nice to see my google docs in google drive but I was expecting more from google... don't know exactly what though. The Windows client doesn't seem to stable, it produces an error every time I shut down my PC.
