It took too much time for Google to realize Europe isn't very big market on "smart home" stuff. We prefer traditional homes without tech in every single aspect of the home. Don't get me wrong—I love tech; everything from small gadgets to smartphones, computers, cameras and whatnot. However, I struggle to see why would anyone need smart devices for their home. It simply doesn't have much sense to me to have all of my devices connected to the internet. Beside, we live in older buildings and houses, dating back from 19th century and older unlike in the US (Google's own market) where everything is relatively new. Our homes are made of bricks and stones; it's not like you can simply and easily throw all the older infrastructure away and implement new one. Not to mention, that old infrastructure we have is so high quality that it works for decades without an issue; it won't stop working when app is discontinued requiring me to switch to an alternative that will also stop working after some time. And while I do own some smart devices at home (smart TVs and smart washing machine; I'm not counting smartphones and PCs because they are necessity), I only bought them because there wasn't dumb device in the offering. I never bothered to connect my LG washing machine to the internet because I literally couldn't see a single reason for it.
