Yesterday, security firm CrowdStrike revealed they detected the presence of two Russian-linked cyber-espionage groups on the servers of the US Democratic National Committee (DNC).

The company says it detected the activities of a cyber-espionage group called Fancy Bear, linked to the Russian military intelligence service GRU, and a second group called Cozy Bear, linked to the FSB, Russia's main intelligence services.

Guccifer 2.0 says CrowdStrike was wrong
Today, a hacker using the nickname Guccifer 2.0 has publicly taken responsibility for the DNC hacks, and to prove his claim, has leaked multiple files online, while also taking a swipe at CrowdStrike.

Worldwide known cyber security company CrowdStrike announced that the Democratic National Committee (DNC) servers had been hacked by “sophisticated” hacker groups. I’m very pleased the company appreciated my skills so highly))) But in fact, it was easy, very easy. Guccifer may have been the first one who penetrated Hillary Clinton’s and other Democrats’ mail servers. But he certainly wasn’t the last. No wonder any other hacker could easily get access to the DNC’s servers. Shame on CrowdStrike: Do you think I’ve been in the DNC’s networks for almost a year and saved only 2 documents? Do you really believe it?

The hacker then went on to embed links to eleven documents on the page, while also saying he gave thousands of files and emails to WikiLeaks, who'll be publishing them shortly.

The hacker's name is taken after Guccifer, real name Marcel Lazăr Lehel, a Romanian hacker that breached the now infamous "Hillary Clinton email server."

Hacker leaks DNC Trump files, party donors list
As for the documents included in the data dump, you can read some of them in the screenshots below (click image for more photos).

The files contain the Democratic party report on Donald Trump, which most of the media suspected the hackers were after, but also other files such as a list of donors to the Democratic party. In this document you can find the names of Morgan Freeman, Steven Spielberg, Mark Pincus (Zynga founder), Anne Cox Chambers (Cox media empire), and more.

The hacker also leaked some files stolen from Hillary Clinton's computer, which bore the "secret" watermark.
