Hello,
I am a Dutch expat living in SW-Thailand. I am a retired spam-/scam fighter (Castlecops/KS-IBR) and reviewer (SiteAdvisor/WOT) and thought that I had more or less protected my system with Bitdefender Total Security 2015 (before free AVG + Win 7 Firewall), Malwarebyte's Antimalware Premium, WinPatrol and as back-up Trojanhunter and SuperAntispyware. Not so. Recently installed Bitdefender reports now and again that C:\Windows\Temp\Upx.* is infected with either Gen:Variant.Symmi.3032 or Adware.Generic.49477. The last days I only get warnings about a Trojan in a mining program, cgminer which is known to trigger FP's.
One week ago I have opened a ticket at Bitdefender, but apart from a confirmation mail I got no reply. The infection seems to get worse: computer slowing down, not wanting to shutdown properly, and today the complete content of one of my 16Gb Kingston USB sticks has disappeared without any warning.
I hope to be able to find faster and adequate help. I guess I will have to start a thread in Malware Removal Assistance.
