Why are you interested in IT/Technology/Security? It's my career at the moment, and I'm sure it's going to continue being my career for a while, but I may pivot to a more interesting/fun career later in life. I got into it because my father was in this industry for a while late in his life and it's one of the few fields I know I excel at and can make a good income at. I always wanted to know how PCs work, how websites work, and so on, so it's only natural that I'd get into the IT industry. Security was never my focus, but it slowly crept its way into my life due to how important it is. Security and accessibility are my primary and secondary goals with most projects. What's your chosen career, or job title? How did you get started? I'm a full stack web developer with my focus mostly on PHP legacy systems. I started pretty late into my 20s after many years dreaming and wanting to do other, more easily understood things (like art or animation) but never being able to make those other things pay me a living wage. I started freelancing as a web designer, made a lot more money than I expected once I added Drupal and PHP as skills, and went on from there. I joined a retail company a few years ago and have helped modernize their systems where I can and secure their systems as well. I also work a lot on development of new software and maintain a lot of load-balanced servers as part of a team. If a student, what are your future career goals? I have a Bachelor's Degree in IT, but I don't recommend going the same route as me. Student debt ruins your life. Just don't do it. I'm self-taught despite the degree. The degree will not get you a job. The degree will most likely do the opposite.
