Hey y'all. I just joined. I know y'all will be a big help to me. Thanks. I'd like to be helpful to y'all, too, but I seriously doubt that will be the case. Another Web site strongly suggested I get Bitdefender for my antivirus protector. I tried downloading the free version, but it wouldn't download. So I downloaded to for pay version on a free 30 day trial basis. Ever since then, my DNS server hasn't worked. I don't even know what a DNS server is! (Nor do I know how to get myself out of this mess.) When I downloaded Bitdefender, I had Avira's antivirus. Bitdefender uninstalled Avira and installed itself, so it said, only it took two downloads to get Bitdefender to get on, and then Avira's icon was still in my, um, lower, right-hand tray. I don't know if it was still working or not.
After reading all y'all letters (threads?), and me not having access to the internet as I used to, I don't think Bitdefender has worked out all its kinks. I want a no-hassles antiviirus with the kinks worked out already. For free. Yes, I do want to have my cake, and eat it, too. What good is cake if you can't eat it??? How silly!
I know, somewhere, one of y'all said the best choice is Avast! 8 free + CFW. I think Avast! is the name of the antivirus, and 8 is the version, and free is an option for price, FW is firewall, but what is the C for? And if I have any of the other stuff wrong, please let me know. NOW THEN, if I want to remove Bitdefender and add Avast! 8 free + CFW, how do I do it? What do I do? Do I Uninstall Bitdefender, and THEN install Avast!? Or do I install Avast! and let it uninstall Bitdefender? Or what? And what about the + CFW? Is that something I get from somewhere else? Where?
